With Aperitif!

Two Italian poems, one by Donata Berra and one by Franco Marcoaldi, were the texts to be translated for the ‘M'illumino d'immenso’ prize for poetry translation, offered by the German Translation Fund together with Traduxit and Biblioteche di Roma. From the numerous entries from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and Brazil, the jury chose the best poetry translation, that of Ruth Gantert. Alongside the award of the Prize, we will use this evening as an opportunity to discuss the specific features and challenges posed by translating poetry. Annette Kopetzki, Luis Ruby and Michelle Steinbeck will offer insights into their work and read from selected translations.
