Robert Mcfarlane

ROBERT MCFARLANE (*1976 in Nottinghamshire) teaches literature at the University of Cambridge and is widely regarded as the leading British voice in contemporary nature writing. An essayist and critic, his work combines lyrical insight with deep ecological awareness. His books The Wild Places and The Old Ways have been published in German as part of Judith Schalansky’s Naturkunden series. The Lost Words received the BAMB Beautiful Book Award and was named Hay Festival Book of the Year. His most recent work, Mountains of the Mind, was reissued in paperback in 2025.
