JUDITH SCHALANSKY (*1980 in Greifswald) is an author and designer. Her work, including internationally acclaimed bestsellers such as «Atlas of Remote Islands» (Atlas der abgelegenen Inseln) and «The Giraffe’s Neck» (Der Hals der Giraffe), has been translated into more than 20 languages. She has received numerous awards, including the Lessing Prize and the Prize of the Literature Houses. She is the editor of the series «Naturkunden» (Matthes & Seitz) and lives in Berlin.
