Damon Galgut (*1963 in Pretoria) is one of South Africa's best known authors. His most recent novel The Promise was awarded the Booker Prize 2021, a prize for which Galgut has already been shortlisted twice, for The Good Doctor (2005) and In a Strange Room (2010). His literary work is published in sixteen languages. Damon Galgut lives in Cape Town.
