Manfred Koch

Rilke. Dichter der Angst

Literaturhaus Basel

This event will be held in German.

Rainer Maria Rilke enjoys a reputation as one of the 20th century’s greatest poets. To mark his 150th birthday, Rilke expert Manfred Koch offers a close look at the poet’s life and work, portraying Rilke as a highly sensitive echo-sounder of his time and one of the most gender-fluid poets of the emerging modern era. His biography traces the key stages of Rilke’s life, linking them to the milestones of his literary output, and offering contemporary interpretations of his work and life.

“An outstanding achievement, a psychologically and aesthetically sensitive, richly insightful, and sharply defined portrayal (…).” (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung)
