The discussion will be in English.
This event is NOT in-house! Kunstmuseum Basel, Neubau, St. Alban-Graben 20, Basel
Artist and author Edmund de Waal is internationally renowned for his bestselling family memoirs “The Hare with Amber Eyes” and “The White Road”. In his first book, he highlighted the power of objects as vessels of history and memory, weaving personal experiences with broader historical narratives to offer unique insights into themes such as remembrance, identity, and cultural heritage. In his artistic work, de Waal creates large-scale installations of porcelain vessels, often conceived in response to collections, archives, or the layered history of a particular place. In this event, moderated by Daniel Kurjakovic (Curator of Programmes, Kunstmuseum Basel) and Tessa Rosebrock (Head of Provenance Research, Kunstmuseum Basel), Edmund de Waal will reflect on cultures of remembrance and read from his work.
In cooperation with the Kunstmuseum Basel.
