Literaturhaus Basel

A rapprochement with her own mother and a painful reckoning: Sylvie Schenk´s mother was born in 1916; her grandmother died in childbirth and was, apparently, a silk worker, just like her mother before her. But is it true? And what story have the descendants been living with? With poetic precision, she traces the questions that her own family history leave open. "You could say Sylvie Schenk is the German Annie Ernaux. I like her better." (Daniela Strigl in SRF Literaturclub).
