In der Küstenstadt Aschkelon versuchen sich Shoah-Überlebende eine neue Existenz zwischen Sand und Meer aufzubauen. Ihre Kinder wollen die Vergangenheit mit dem Sound der Sechzigerjahre-Hits hinter sich lassen. Doch die Schatten greifen nach ihnen. Die Deportationen von Jüd:innen aus Paris und der Widerstand in Mitteleuropa verbinden sich in den Biografien von Govrins Figuren mit der Flucht der jüdischen Bevölkerung aus Marokko, der Diaspora in Buenos Aires und dem Leben im noch jungen Staat Israel.

In the coastal city of Aschkelon, between sand and sea, three Shoah survivors attempt to create a new existence. Their children want to leave the past behind and live in the sound of sixties hit music. But the past casts a long shadow. The deportations of Jews from Paris and the resistance in Central Europe are woven into the biographies of Govrin’s characters along with the flight of the Jewish people from Morocco, the diaspora in Buenos Aires, and life in the still-young state of Israel.
